Angèle Challier Fontaine's multi-part textile installation accentuates a reality in which female achievements and efforts too often go unnoticed and uncommented on. With discreet embroidery and text fragments, the work responds to these circumstances and pays tribute to the meticulous and passionate textile work of women in a visually poetic way. The participatory work is exhibited at the Neuthal Museum for Textile and Industrial Culture and opens up a dialog about gender-specific vulnerability and technical sophistication.
During the workshop, participants will reflect on the themes that motivated Angèle to create this piece and come up with their own contribution. The participants will embroider these ideas and thoughts on a designated part of the installation. Participants are asked to bring their own writing and drawing materials to take notes and make sketches. The remaining material will be provided.
