We open the festival with a listening of the sound sculpture "Will starren nach den Ätherhöhn" and a complementary artist talk with the sound artist duo bittelangsam.
Andrea Züllig and Heiko Schätzle have created a unique sound sculpture using polyphonic perforated plates from the museum archive and are staging it in the exhibition rooms with the sounds of music machines. This work is an inspiring example of the creative reuse of machine-generated sounds and shows how important historical artifacts from museum collections can be for artistic work.
Inspired by the mechanical sophistication of music machines, the Sound Art Duo uses perforated polyphonic plates from the collection of the KMM Cultural Center (KMM - Sounds, People, Machines). Twenty of these metal plates become a room-filling body of sound that vibrates with sounds recorded in the museum. The field recordings, sound fragments and sound fragments are used to create a 4-minute composition in which sound and material are interdependent.
We look forward to welcoming you to Dürnten on Saturday and toasting together to the artistic contributions that enrich the Zurich Oberland cultural scene!
